Washington: US President Donald Trump has appointed Adam Telle as the acting Secretary of the US Army, adding another change to the senior leadership of the American military.
Trump announced the decision in a social media post on Thursday, saying that Telle, who serves as the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, had been selected to take over the position on an acting basis.
According to US media reports, Adam Telle has been working in the Army’s Civil Works division, where he has been involved in responsibilities related to the department’s civilian infrastructure and engineering activities.
Telle’s appointment comes after the recent resignation of Dan Driscoll, who had served as Army Secretary. Driscoll’s departure followed reported disagreements with US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, although no detailed public explanation was given for his resignation.
The US Army also declined to immediately comment on the circumstances surrounding Driscoll’s departure. His resignation has nevertheless added to growing attention surrounding changes in the Pentagon and senior US military leadership.
The latest appointment follows several other unexpected developments within the US military command structure. In April, Hegseth abruptly removed General Randy George from his position. A few months later, General Christopher Donahue, who had been serving as the commander of US Army forces in Europe and Africa, unexpectedly announced his resignation in June.
