President Asif Ali Zardari will visit Germany from October 22 to 24 to discuss bilateral relations and expand cooperation between the two countries. The Zardari Germany visit comes as Pakistan and Germany prepare to mark 75 years of diplomatic relations in 2026. Economic cooperation, trade and investment are expected to feature prominently during the visit.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office announced the visit on Thursday, describing it as part of continued high-level exchanges between Islamabad and Berlin. The ministry said the diplomatic anniversary presents an opportunity to strengthen the longstanding partnership. Both countries have maintained relations across diplomatic, economic and international affairs.
During the visit, Zardari is scheduled to meet German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and other senior officials. He will also engage with business leaders to discuss ways to expand economic and trade cooperation. However, the Foreign Office has not announced any specific agreements expected to be signed during the trip.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah may also accompany the president, although the final composition of the delegation has not been confirmed. Shah previously discussed the possible visit during a meeting with German Consul General Thomas E. Schultze. The participation of provincial representatives could support discussions on business and economic opportunities.

The upcoming Zardari Germany visit follows talks between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul. The two officials met on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in September. Their discussions covered regional conflicts and opportunities for greater international cooperation.
Germany has also acknowledged Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement in regional matters. According to Germany’s Foreign Office, Berlin appreciated Pakistan’s mediation efforts concerning regional conflicts, particularly those involving the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab. The two countries also agreed to pursue renewed negotiations on peace in Ukraine.
Economic ties have remained an important part of recent engagement between Islamabad and Berlin. In June, a German delegation announced plans to bring around 30 German companies to Pakistan to explore business opportunities and connect Pakistani firms with European markets. Zardari’s visit offers another opportunity to advance trade, encourage investment and strengthen cooperation as both countries approach their diplomatic anniversary.
