The Tank police checkpoint attack claimed the lives of 15 security personnel after militants targeted a police checkpoint in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The military’s media wing said security forces responded immediately, killing 12 attackers and preventing them from achieving their objectives.
ISPR said the militants launched what it described as a coordinated assault on the checkpoint. Security personnel responded with what it called timely and effective action, engaging the attackers and forcing them back during an intense exchange of fire.
According to the military’s statement, the attackers, facing heavy resistance, rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the outer wall of the checkpoint. The resulting blast caused extensive damage to the facility’s infrastructure.

The military said the security forces demonstrated exceptional courage and professionalism throughout the operation. ISPR added that 12 militants attempting to flee after the failed attack were tracked down and killed by security personnel.
A clearance operation is continuing in the surrounding area to eliminate any remaining militants, ISPR said. Authorities stated that security forces are conducting search operations to ensure the area is fully secured.
