Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered authorities to strengthen the QR complaint system for overseas Pakistanis to improve services provided through Pakistani embassies and high commissions worldwide. The directive was issued during a high-level meeting reviewing digital initiatives aimed at facilitating Pakistani citizens living abroad.
During the meeting, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Information Technology, and other government departments briefed the prime minister on ongoing reforms. Shehbaz Sharif described overseas Pakistanis as a valuable national asset and said delivering efficient and transparent public services remains one of the government’s top priorities.
The prime minister welcomed the introduction of the QR complaint system for overseas Pakistanis and instructed officials to display QR codes prominently at all embassies and diplomatic missions. He also directed the launch of a public awareness campaign so that more Pakistanis abroad can easily register complaints and receive timely assistance.
Officials informed the meeting that QR code technology has also been introduced for services related to powers of attorney, property matters, and document verification. The initiative is intended to simplify administrative procedures while improving transparency and reducing processing time.
The meeting was also told that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched an evening shift at its Islamabad office to enhance public service delivery and accommodate a larger number of applicants requiring consular assistance.
Officials further briefed the prime minister on the implementation of the apostille system, which has simplified document authentication through a one-step verification process. They added that the National Information Technology Board (NITB), in collaboration with the Foreign Office, is developing a mobile application for the digital verification of birth, death, marriage, family registration certificates, and other official documents.
The expanded QR complaint system for overseas Pakistanis reflects the government’s broader digital transformation agenda. The planned reforms are expected to improve accessibility, increase efficiency, and provide overseas Pakistanis with faster and more convenient access to essential public services.
