The Pakistan government has decided to significantly reduce the diesel price by around Rs30 to Rs32 per litre, Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervez Malik said on Wednesday. The move is aimed at providing relief to consumers amid rising living costs.
Speaking about the decision, Ali Pervez Malik said the government understands the difficulties faced by the public. He said authorities were making efforts to provide whatever relief was possible, including measures related to petroleum product prices.
The petroleum minister said the government’s decision to provide subsidies on petroleum products was also part of its efforts to reduce the financial burden on consumers. He added that authorities were working to protect the public during the current difficult period.
According to Ali Pervez Malik, the increase in petroleum prices was linked to the intensification of the ongoing war and its impact on international fuel markets. He said several countries were also facing difficulties in securing diesel supplies.
The diesel price cut in Pakistan follows a decision by local refineries to reduce the price of diesel. The refineries have decided to lower the diesel price by more than Rs30 to Rs32 per litre, according to the petroleum minister.
The government expects the reduction to provide some relief to consumers and businesses that depend heavily on diesel. Diesel prices have a direct impact on transportation, agriculture and other sectors because of their widespread use.
Ali Pervez Malik said the government would continue making efforts to protect the public from the impact of the current crisis. The latest diesel price cut in Pakistan comes as authorities seek to manage fuel supply challenges while reducing pressure on consumers.
