Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has welcomed the reported defence agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, describing it as a significant development for unity and collective security in the Muslim world. She said the agreement could mark a new chapter in cooperation among the three countries.
In a statement, Maryam Nawaz praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Field Marshal Asim Munir for their efforts toward strengthening cooperation among Muslim countries.
The Punjab chief minister said the agreement sent a message of unity from the holy city of Makkah. She described the coming together of three major economic, military and political powers as encouraging news for the wider Muslim world.
Maryam Nawaz said the joint defence arrangement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye represented the beginning of a new era in relations among Muslim-majority countries. She also praised Pakistan’s leadership for working with the Saudi and Turkish leadership on the agreement.
She said Pakistan would continue to support Muslim unity and collective security at the international level. According to Maryam Nawaz, stronger defence cooperation among the three countries would contribute to the protection of their borders and reinforce mutual confidence.
The Punjab chief minister further said the agreement reflected a principle under which an attack on one country would be considered an attack on all. She described the arrangement as an important expression of solidarity among the three countries.
Maryam Nawaz said Pakistan would continue to welcome initiatives aimed at strengthening unity, collective security and mutual trust in the Muslim world. She described the agreement as a development that could have wider significance for regional cooperation and relations among Muslim countries.
