US Iran peace deal

US, Iran Close to Peace Deal, Says Khawaja Asif

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said the United States and Iran are moving closer to a possible US Iran peace deal, citing encouraging signals from recent days.

Speaking in an interview with Bloomberg, Asif said the two countries appeared to be approaching “some sort of an arrangement”. He said developments over the previous two to three days had strengthened hopes for a diplomatic breakthrough.

According to the defence minister, the situation was once again developing in favour of a peace arrangement or broader deal. His remarks come amid continued diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions between Washington and Tehran.

Asif’s comments came as Pakistan remained engaged in efforts to facilitate dialogue between the two sides. Islamabad has sought to use diplomatic channels to help ease the wider regional crisis and encourage a negotiated settlement.

The possibility of a US Iran peace deal could have wider implications for regional stability, particularly amid continuing tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz. Any reduction in confrontation could also ease concerns over trade and energy flows.

Recent diplomatic activity has included contacts between Pakistani and Iranian officials. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also arrived in Tehran on Tuesday for meetings with Iranian officials as efforts to advance dialogue continued.

Asif stressed that the latest signals were encouraging but described the development as an emerging arrangement rather than a completed agreement. The US Iran peace deal remains subject to further negotiations and decisions by Washington and Tehran.
