Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said full implementation of the Islamabad MoU signed on June 18 is the only way forward to ease ongoing regional tensions. He made the remarks during a meeting with US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker in Islamabad.
The meeting focused on Pakistan-US bilateral cooperation and recent developments in the region. Both sides discussed the evolving security situation and ways to strengthen coordination between Islamabad and Washington amid continuing tensions linked to Iran.
Dar stressed that the Islamabad MoU must be implemented in letter and spirit to help reduce tensions and create conditions for lasting stability. He emphasized dialogue and diplomacy as essential tools for resolving regional disputes and preventing further escalation.
The deputy prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and security while making clear that the country would continue to safeguard its national interests. He said diplomatic engagement remained important for addressing complex regional challenges.
Dar also welcomed what he described as a positive trajectory in Pakistan-US relations. He said continued cooperation between the two countries could contribute to regional stability and help support diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions.
During the meeting, the US Chargé d’Affaires appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability. Baker also conveyed her felicitations to Dar on the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day.
The discussion comes as regional tensions remain closely linked to developments involving Iran and broader security concerns in the Middle East. Pakistan has repeatedly emphasized diplomacy and dialogue, while the Islamabad MoU remains an important framework in its efforts to encourage de-escalation and peaceful engagement.
