Hajj Pilgrims Deposit Over Rs8.7bn Through Digital Portal

Pakistan’s Hajj Digital Portal has recorded more than Rs8.7 billion in payments from pilgrims since the government began collecting the first installment of Hajj dues through digital channels. At least 13,260 pilgrims have completed their payments through multiple available options, reflecting growing use of online services for Hajj arrangements.

According to an Hajj update issued on Wednesday, pilgrims have deposited a total of more than Rs8.703 billion through the available payment channels. The Hajj Digital Portal allows applicants to complete financial transactions without relying entirely on traditional, in-person banking procedures.

A total of 2,006 online transactions were completed through bank cards, while another 4,615 payments were processed through OneLink PSID. These options have provided pilgrims with additional flexibility when depositing their Hajj dues.

The government has also facilitated payments through manual bank challans. Under this arrangement, 6,761 Hajj pilgrims deposited their dues through digital challans at Habib Bank. The figures show that pilgrims are using different payment methods according to their preferences and access to digital banking services.

The Hajj update further stated that payments for 7,000 pilgrims registered under the Short Hajj Scheme have been completed. The development comes as Pakistan prepares for Hajj 2027 under a broader policy aimed at making the pilgrimage application and payment process more convenient and technology-driven.

The government has allocated 107,526 seats for the Hajj 2027 Government Scheme. The 40-day package has been set at Rs1.2 million, while the package covering 20 to 25 days will cost Rs1.3 million. Authorities have said the complete Hajj process is being digitalised from application to payment and other related services.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has said the digital system is intended to reduce long queues, unnecessary travel and waiting times for pilgrims. Through the Pak Hajj App and Hajj Portal, applicants will be able to manage key stages of the Hajj process from home, marking a major shift toward digital public services for pilgrims.
