Shafi Jan Claims Imran Khan’s Health Was Compromised

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shafi Jan has accused the government of not only disregarding a court order but also compromising the health of PTI founder Imran Khan. He said the issue could lead to further legal proceedings against the authorities.

Speaking on programme, Shafi Jan claimed that the court had ordered Imran Khan to be taken to Shifa Hospital for medical treatment. He further alleged that no PTI workers were present outside the hospital when the authorities dealt with the matter.

According to the KP information minister, Imran Khan was not subjected to the medical tests that PTI had expected. He claimed that only his blood pressure was checked and an injection was administered in his eye.

Shafi Jan questioned what report the government would present before the Supreme Court if comprehensive medical examinations had not been conducted. He said PTI would not accept any report submitted by the government if it did not accurately reflect Imran Khan’s medical condition.

The KP minister also suggested that political developments could now move towards street protests. He said even members within PTI who had previously supported negotiations appeared to have lost confidence in the process and were now inclined towards taking their protest to the streets.

Shafi Jan rejected the possibility that the developments were the result of any communication or political contact. He alleged that the government had effectively ignored the Supreme Court’s directive and said the matter involved both the implementation of the judicial order and concerns surrounding Imran Khan’s health.
