The PM Apna Ghar Program has officially been launched, introducing a major housing initiative aimed at providing affordable homes and plots to low and middle-income citizens in Pakistan. The scheme is designed to support housing accessibility and strengthen the country’s real estate sector.
Under the PM Apna Ghar Program, citizens will be able to purchase a 10-marla house or plot through easy installment plans. Loans ranging from Rs2.5 million to Rs10 million will be offered, making home ownership more accessible for the general public.
The repayment period has been set at 20 years. According to the plan, a fixed 5% markup will apply for the first 10 years, while a standard market-based markup will be charged for the remaining period. This structure is designed to ease the financial burden on borrowers in the initial years.
Monthly installment estimates under the PM Apna Ghar Program have also been shared. A Rs2.5 million loan will require approximately Rs16,499 per month, while Rs5 million, Rs7.5 million, and Rs10 million loans will require monthly payments of around Rs32,997, Rs49,497, and Rs65,996 respectively.
Officials stated that applicants must not have any existing major loans or outstanding financial liabilities in their name. The scheme allows financing of up to 90% of the property cost, while the remaining 10% must be paid by the applicant.
Loans under the PM Apna Ghar Program will be processed through Islamic banks, commercial banks, microfinance institutions, and housing finance companies. Authorities confirmed that no upfront application fee will be required.
The program will be jointly monitored by the State Bank of Pakistan and the Pakistan Housing Authority Foundation to ensure transparency. Applications will be processed online, and approvals are expected within one month. The government believes this initiative will help reduce the housing shortage and support citizens in achieving their dream of home ownership.
