King Charles US Congress speech

King Charles Calls for US-UK Unity Amid Iran Tensions

King Charles delivered a significant address to the United States Congress, emphasizing strong US-UK relations at a time of rising global tensions linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran. His speech highlighted unity, democracy, and shared responsibility between long-time allies.

During the King Charles US Congress speech, the monarch stressed that despite differences, the United Kingdom and the United States remain committed to defending democratic values. He received a prolonged standing ovation as he entered the joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives alongside Queen Camilla.

King Charles referenced global instability, including conflicts in Europe and the Middle East. Without directly taking political sides, he underscored the importance of continued cooperation between allied nations in maintaining international peace and security.

The speech came amid growing divisions between Western allies over the Iran war. US President Donald Trump has criticized NATO and questioned allied contributions, particularly regarding military support in the ongoing Middle East conflict.

In his address, the king also highlighted historical cooperation between the two nations, recalling joint efforts in major global conflicts including World War II, the Cold War, and Afghanistan. He emphasized that the same unity is needed today to support Ukraine and other global security challenges.

The King Charles US Congress speech also included subtle references to concerns over isolationism and the need for continued global engagement. Buckingham Palace had earlier stated that the speech would remain non-political, though it touched on several sensitive international issues.

Following the speech, US President Donald Trump hosted a state banquet where he commented on Iran-related developments. However, King Charles did not publicly respond to those remarks and maintained his constitutional neutrality as the British monarch.

In addition to geopolitical issues, the king also highlighted environmental protection as a long-term global responsibility, urging nations to safeguard nature for future generations alongside maintaining peace and stability.
