Pakistan Calls for Diplomacy at UN Over Israel-Palestine, Iran Crisis

Pakistan has strongly urged the international community to prioritize diplomacy and peaceful dialogue in resolving the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict and the US-Iran tensions during a United Nations Security Council debate.

Speaking at the UNSC open debate on the Middle East, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, emphasized that unresolved issues such as the Palestinian question and continued occupation remain the root cause of regional instability.

He stated that sustainable peace can only be achieved through the end of occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. He rejected any alternative narratives that ignore fundamental rights or rely on the use of force.

During the session, Pakistan reiterated its position that restraint, dialogue, and diplomacy must prevail at this critical moment. The statement highlighted the country’s consistent approach in favor of peaceful conflict resolution through international cooperation.

The ambassador also pointed out Pakistan’s active role in facilitating diplomatic engagement, including recent talks hosted in Islamabad between the United States and Iran. These efforts, he said, reflect Pakistan’s commitment to reducing tensions in the region.

According to the envoy, Pakistan diplomacy UN initiatives continue to support dialogue-driven solutions aimed at promoting stability across the Middle East. He stressed that Pakistan will remain engaged in encouraging peaceful negotiations.

He also warned that rising tensions in strategic regions such as the Strait of Hormuz are affecting global economic stability and impacting multiple countries, including Pakistan. This underscores the urgency of diplomatic intervention.

Pakistan reaffirmed its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all regional states while expressing concern over escalating violence and illegal settlement expansion in the occupied Palestinian territories, calling them violations of international law.

The statement concluded with a strong appeal for international unity in resolving disputes peacefully, emphasizing that only diplomacy can ensure long-term peace and stability in the region.
