ISLAMABAD: The number of documents required to apply for housing finance under Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s Apna Ghar Programme has been reduced to five. The Ministry of Housing and Works has reportedly issued instructions to banks to implement the revised documentation requirements, aiming to simplify the housing loan application process.
According to the ministry’s spokesperson, the five required documents include a transfer letter, possession letter, building plan, no-objection letter permitting the property to be mortgaged, and mortgage registration. These documents have been identified as the standard requirements for housing finance under the programme.
The ministry said banks had been instructed to follow the revised documentation guidelines for applications submitted under the Apna Ghar Programme. Limiting the number of required documents is intended to reduce paperwork and make the application process more straightforward for prospective borrowers.
The spokesperson described the Apna Ghar Programme as an important housing initiative operating across Pakistan. Under the scheme, the government is providing loans of up to Rs10 million to eligible individuals seeking financing to build their first home.
The programme is aimed at supporting people who need financial assistance to construct a home. Easier access to housing finance can be particularly important for applicants who face administrative and documentation challenges when approaching banks for loans.
According to the Ministry of Housing and Works, the required documents for housing finance have been streamlined and standardised. The revised requirements are intended to establish a more consistent process for banks handling housing loan applications under the government initiative.
