JAPAN: Pakistan hockey team continued their impressive run at the 20th Asian Games by defeating China 3-0 to secure their third consecutive victory in the men’s hockey event. The Green Shirts delivered a strong performance in their Pool B encounter.
Pakistan and China faced each other in a crucial Pool B match of the men’s hockey competition being held in Japan. Both teams started cautiously, with neither side able to break the deadlock during the opening quarter.
Pakistan stepped up their attacking pressure in the second quarter and quickly took control of the match. The national side scored three goals in a dominant spell, putting China under considerable pressure.
Pakistan captain Abu Bakar Mahmood opened the scoring in the 19th minute. His goal gave Pakistan a 1-0 lead and provided the team with the momentum they needed to take control of the contest.
Five minutes later, Sufyan Khan doubled Pakistan’s advantage by converting a penalty corner in the 24th minute. His goal extended the lead to 2-0 and increased the pressure on the Chinese defence.
Pakistan added a third goal in the 28th minute when Hannan Shahid produced an impressive field goal. The strike put the Green Shirts 3-0 ahead and gave them a commanding advantage before the final stages of the match.
