Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA): Nationwide Processions Held Under Tight Security

The Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala is being observed across Pakistan today with religious devotion and strict security arrangements. Central processions are taking place in major cities, while authorities have implemented comprehensive traffic plans and security measures to ensure the safety of mourners.

In Karachi, the main Chehlum procession began from Nishtar Park. Authorities have placed containers on roads leading to the procession route to control access and maintain security. MA Jinnah Road remains closed to traffic, while commuters are being redirected through alternative routes to minimize congestion.

According to the city’s traffic management plan, vehicles from Shahrah-e-Quaideen are being diverted toward Kashmir Road and Peoples Chowrangi. Traffic from Hassan Square is being routed via Society Signal, Teen Hatti, and Lasbela Chowk. Similarly, motorists traveling from Nazimabad can reach their destinations through Lasbela, Garden, and Nishtar Road.

Vehicles coming from Shahrah-e-Faisal are being diverted through Society Signal toward Kashmir Road. Meanwhile, traffic traveling from Saddar to Tower is being redirected via Preedy Street and II Chundrigar Road. Citizens have been advised to follow official traffic updates and use alternate routes where necessary.

In Islamabad, the central Chehlum procession concluded peacefully at Imambargah Isna Ashari in Sector G-6. In Peshawar, the main procession started from Imambargah Hussainia Hall in Saddar. Meanwhile, Lahore’s central Chehlum procession commenced from Haveli Alif Shah inside Delhi Gate and will conclude at Karbala Gamay Shah.

Authorities have also announced additional security measures in other parts of the country. Mobile phone services remain suspended in selected areas of Quetta, including Qaidabad, Gwalmandi, and Brewery, as a precautionary step. In Hyderabad, Section 144 has been imposed, while double riding has been banned in Hyderabad, Matiari, Dadu, Sujawal, Tando Allahyar, Thatta, and Jhirk to maintain law and order.

Officials have urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies, follow traffic advisories, and respect security protocols throughout the observance. The annual Chehlum commemorations continue to draw thousands of participants across the country, reflecting deep reverence for the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala.
