Fast Bowler Kainat Imtiaz Announces Retirement From International Cricket

Pakistan women’s team fast bowler Kainat Imtiaz has announced her retirement from international cricket, bringing an end to her career as a Pakistan international after years of representing the country across different formats.

According to the Pakistan Cricket Board, Kainat Imtiaz played 19 One-Day Internationals and 21 T20 Internationals for Pakistan. She represented the national side on several occasions during her international career.

Kainat was also part of the Pakistan teams that won gold medals at the Asian Games in 2010 and 2014. Those achievements became an important part of her career with Pakistan women’s cricket.

The fast bowler made her final ODI appearance against Australia in January 2023. Her last T20 international came against Thailand in October 2022, after which she continued her association with the sport through other roles.

Following her playing career, Kainat Imtiaz also became involved in commentary. She has now taken another step within the cricketing structure by beginning her career as a women’s match referee.

Cricket also runs in Kainat’s family. Her mother, Saleema Imtiaz, has been associated with umpiring and became the first Pakistani woman to be included in the ICC International Development Panel.
