Sindh Interior Minister Zia Lanjar appeared before the judicial commission investigating the Mir Raza murder case and offered an unconditional apology. The commission held its meeting under Justice Umar Sial.
During the hearing, Justice Umar Sial said Mir Raza’s family had very little confidence in the process. He also criticised the Sindh advocate general, saying his actions had further worsened the situation.
Zia Lanjar told the commission that the Sindh government did not want anyone to believe that it was unwilling to support the investigation. He said the government wanted a transparent process and justice for Mir Raza’s family.
The minister further said it was important for the commission to reach a conclusion so that the facts could emerge. He added that those found involved in the case would face action according to the findings of the investigation.
Meanwhile, Jibran Nasir, the lawyer representing Mir Raza’s father, requested that the deceased’s business partner be summoned before the commission again. Nasir said Ahmed had made allegations against the commission and that the matter should be examined further.
During the proceedings, citizens also provided the judicial commission with information concerning Mir Raza’s digital accounts, digital footprints and cloud login records. These details could form part of the digital evidence being examined as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.
The commission later summoned Dr Usama and Dr Samia, who conducted Mir Raza’s post-mortem examinations, along with SHO Adil Afzal and head muharrir Zeeshan. The Mir Raza murder case is expected to see further proceedings as the commission examines testimony and available evidence.
