Pakistan Completes External Financing for FY2026: Finance Minister

Pakistan external financing FY2026 arrangements have been successfully completed, according to Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, who said the country has secured the required external funding for the current fiscal year. The announcement reflects improving economic stability and growing international support.

The finance minister made these remarks during meetings in Washington, where he held detailed discussions with Fitch Ratings officials on Pakistan’s credit profile. He welcomed the reaffirmation of Pakistan’s B-negative rating and emphasized continued engagement with global financial markets.

Officials stated that Pakistan external financing FY2026 has been arranged through a combination of multilateral support and international capital market instruments. These include Panda bonds, Eurobonds, and Sukuk-based financing strategies aimed at diversifying funding sources.

During his address at the Citi Macro Forum in Washington, the finance minister briefed investors on Pakistan’s economic direction. He confirmed that a staff-level agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has already been reached, further strengthening external confidence.

He added that Pakistan external financing FY2026 efforts are aligned with broader economic reforms, which continue to receive strong backing from international financial institutions. IMF Executive Board approval is expected in early May.

The minister also highlighted the impact of global geopolitical tensions, calling the Middle East crisis one of the largest supply shocks in recent history. He stressed the importance of building petroleum reserves and strengthening economic resilience.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s policy direction, the finance minister expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s financial assistance and outlined a three-phase economic response strategy aimed at ensuring long-term stability.
