Pakistan has announced plans to join the Pakistan INSTC Gwadar Russia Trade framework by seeking membership in the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), a major 7,200-kilometre multimodal trade route connecting Asia with Europe. The move is seen as a significant step toward expanding regional connectivity and strengthening economic partnerships.
According to officials, the Pakistan INSTC Gwadar Russia Trade initiative is aimed at improving access to global markets through integrated sea, rail, and road networks. The INSTC connects key economies including Russia, Iran, Central Asia, and parts of Europe, making it a strategic trade corridor.
Federal Energy Minister Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari revealed the development while addressing a webinar on Pakistan-Russia relations. He highlighted that the Pakistan INSTC Gwadar Russia Trade plan reflects growing cooperation between Islamabad and Moscow in trade, energy, and infrastructure development.
A major aspect of the proposal includes linking Gwadar Port with Russia-backed routes under the INSTC framework. The Pakistan INSTC Gwadar Russia Trade strategy is expected to integrate Pakistan’s key seaport with wider Eurasian logistics networks, enhancing transit potential.
