Pakistan’s passport ranking has improved in the latest Henley Passport Index 2026, moving up two places from 103rd to 101st. Despite the improvement, the Pakistani passport remains among the lower-ranked passports globally, ranking ahead of only a few countries.
According to the latest index published by Henley & Partners, Pakistani passport holders can now travel to 29 destinations without obtaining a visa in advance or through simplified entry arrangements, reflecting a modest improvement in global travel access.
The Henley Passport Index evaluates 199 passports against 227 travel destinations worldwide. The rankings are based on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and measure how many destinations passport holders can access without securing a visa before departure.
The report notes that passport rankings can change over time as governments update visa policies, introduce new travel agreements, or impose entry restrictions. As a result, the number of visa-free or simplified-access destinations may vary throughout the year.
Singapore retained its position as the world’s most powerful passport in the 2026 rankings, offering access to the highest number of destinations without a prior visa. India ranked 81st, while Afghanistan remained at the bottom of the global passport rankings.
Although Pakistan’s two-place improvement is viewed as a positive development, the country’s passport continues to face limited global mobility compared with many other nations. Analysts suggest that stronger diplomatic ties and expanded visa agreements could further improve Pakistan’s international travel access in the future.
