Pakistan Petrol Price Hits Record High in Fiscal Year 2025-26

Pakistan Petrol Price became one of the biggest financial concerns for citizens during fiscal year 2025-26. Consumers faced record-breaking fuel prices as petrol and high-speed diesel reached their highest levels in the country’s history.

According to available official figures, by June 30, the government had increased the price of high-speed diesel by Rs257.76 per litre. Petrol prices also witnessed a cumulative increase of Rs199.98 per litre during the same fiscal year.

The continuous rise in fuel prices placed additional pressure on households, businesses, and the transport sector. Higher transportation costs also contributed to increasing prices of essential goods across the country.

Apart from fuel price hikes, consumers were burdened by the highest petroleum levy ever imposed. The increased levy significantly raised the overall cost of purchasing petrol and diesel, affecting millions of daily commuters.

Economic experts believe that rising international oil prices, fiscal adjustments, and government revenue targets played a major role in maintaining elevated fuel prices throughout the year. These measures were introduced to strengthen public finances but also increased the cost of living.

As fiscal year 2025-26 comes to an end, record petrol prices and petroleum levies remain among the most significant economic challenges faced by Pakistani consumers. Many citizens continue to hope for fuel price relief in the upcoming financial year.
