The petrol levy increase Pakistan has led to a sharp rise in fuel prices across the country, placing additional financial pressure on consumers already affected by inflation and rising living costs.
According to official notifications, the government has increased the petroleum development levy (PDL) on petrol by Rs26.77 per litre. With this adjustment, the total levy has now reached Rs107.38 per litre, compared to the earlier rate of Rs80.61.
The petrol levy increase Pakistan has directly contributed to higher retail fuel prices. Petrol prices have now risen to Rs393.35 per litre, reflecting the latest revision issued by the Ministry of Petroleum.
High-speed diesel has also become more expensive, with its price increasing by Rs26.77 per litre to reach Rs380.19 per litre. The revised fuel rates will remain effective nationwide from April 25.
Officials clarified that while the diesel levy remains unchanged, other cost factors have been adjusted. These changes still impact the overall pricing structure of diesel in the local market.
A significant development under the petrol levy increase Pakistan is the rise in freight margins for diesel. The government has increased the freight margin by Rs30.21 per litre.
The new freight margin now stands at Rs37.75 per litre, compared to the previous Rs7.54. This adjustment has indirectly contributed to the overall rise in diesel prices across Pakistan.
Economists warn that continued increases in fuel taxes and levies could further accelerate inflation, affecting transport, goods pricing, and household expenses nationwide.
