The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has announced the winners of the World Cup Magic Skill Awards, with Pakistan’s Abdul Rehman winning the men’s category.
Abdul Rehman earned the award for his impressive three-dimensional skills during Pakistan’s match against Wales at the 2026 Hockey World Cup.
During the match, the Pakistani player showed excellent control and skill as he moved past four Welsh defenders before scoring a spectacular goal.
Three players were shortlisted for the men’s Magic Skill Award. Pakistan’s Abdul Rehman, South Africa’s Kenton Melville and France’s Corentin Lelet were among the nominees.
Abdul Rehman won the public vote after a close contest with South Africa’s Kenton Melville. Abdul Rehman’s goal received 44 percent of the votes, while Melville secured 39 percent.
In the women’s category, India goalkeeper Bichu Devi Kharibam won the Magic Skill Award. She was recognised for a remarkable reflex save in the final minute of India’s match against England.
Bichu Devi received 52 percent of the fans’ votes to claim the women’s award.
Pakistan finished 11th in the 2026 Hockey World Cup, while Abdul Rehman’s goal against Wales was recognised among the standout moments of the tournament.
The 2026 Hockey World Cup was held in Belgium and the Netherlands in August. Germany defeated Spain 1-0 in the men’s final, while Argentina beat the Netherlands 3-1 in a penalty shootout in the women’s final.
