Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik has said the government provided greater relief to consumers than the recent reduction in petroleum prices, emphasizing its commitment to passing the benefits of lower global oil prices directly to the public.
Speaking to the media in Lahore, the minister expressed gratitude that the first ten days of Muharram passed peacefully across the country. He praised the efforts of the Pakistan Armed Forces, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Punjab Chief Minister for maintaining law and order during the religious observances.
Ali Pervaiz Malik also welcomed the easing of tensions in the region, saying that the end of the recent conflict between Iran and the United States had contributed to a decline in international petroleum prices. According to him, the improved regional situation has positively influenced the global energy market.
The minister stated that the government acted swiftly to ensure consumers benefited from the changing market conditions. He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed that the financial advantage resulting from lower international oil prices be transferred to the public without delay.
Highlighting the government’s pricing policy, Malik said the relief provided to consumers exceeded the actual reduction in petroleum prices recorded during the previous week. He described the move as part of the government’s broader efforts to reduce the financial burden on citizens.
