PTI-Government Talks: Barrister Gohar Pushes for Third Round

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has stepped up efforts to continue negotiations with the federal government despite a deadlock between the two sides following the latest round of talks.

According to PTI sources, the second phase of negotiations between the opposition party and the federal government concluded without a breakthrough. The two-day discussions ended without an agreement on the key issues under consideration.

Sources said Barrister Gohar is seeking to maintain the dialogue process and has been holding contacts to arrange a third round of negotiations. The PTI leadership has indicated that it wants political matters to remain under discussion rather than allowing the dialogue process to come to an end.

Several senior PTI leaders are also reportedly interested in making progress through negotiations before the proposed long march. Party sources said efforts are underway to explore a political solution before the next phase of protest activity.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi gave a different account of the negotiations in a statement shared on social media. He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had submitted a written agreement and an implementation plan within 72 hours.

According to Naqvi, the KP government had initially agreed to a written agreement and an improved security plan during the negotiations but later backed away from its commitments at the final stage. He also highlighted the province’s security situation and said security should not become a subject of political confrontation.

The possibility of a third round of PTI-government talks could become significant for the country’s immediate political situation.
