Adviser to Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah has said the government believes it complied with the court’s order concerning Imran Khan and will follow whatever decision the court announces on September 16. Speaking in the Senate, he said the government, the Supreme Court and all other courts are bound by the Constitution. He also said the court would determine whether any part of its order remained unfulfilled.
Addressing the issue, Rana Sanaullah said the government’s position was that the Supreme Court’s directions had been implemented. He responded to PTI Senator Ali Zafar’s remarks about compliance with the court order and said parliamentarians should not assume the role of a court. According to him, the final assessment of compliance rests with the judiciary.
Rana Sanaullah said Imran Khan was initially brought to Shifa International Hospital but security concerns emerged at the facility. He said the situation could have created law and order problems. As a result, the authorities changed the plan at the last moment and moved the PTI founder to a government hospital for his medical examination.
The prime minister’s adviser said the Supreme Court had also referred to security arrangements in its decision. He said the government and the administration would present evidence about the situation outside Shifa International Hospital. Rana Sanaullah maintained that the authorities changed the arrangements to prevent any possible deterioration in the law and order situation.
He further said qualified doctors examined Imran Khan and found him in good health. The government therefore maintains that it followed the court’s directions. Rana Sanaullah said the court would decide whether there had been any shortcoming in implementing its order. He added that the government would accept and implement the decision issued by the court on September 16.
The adviser also raised the issue of public statements concerning Imran Khan’s health and meetings. He said the court had directed the relevant parties not to discuss matters related to Imran Khan’s health and meetings in the media. Rana Sanaullah alleged that PTI had instead held a press conference about the former prime minister’s health.
He further questioned why PTI did not directly communicate with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister regarding Imran Khan’s alleged instructions. The remarks come as the dispute over the implementation of the Supreme Court’s directions remains before the judiciary. Rana Sanaullah reiterated that the government would abide by the court’s final decision when it is announced on September 16.
