Odesa drone attack incidents escalated again as Russian forces launched overnight strikes on Ukraine’s southern port city, leaving at least 18 people injured and causing widespread damage to residential areas and infrastructure.
According to local authorities, the latest attack on Odesa marks the second strike on the city within the same week. The city, located on the Black Sea, remains a key hub for Ukraine’s exports and has been repeatedly targeted during the ongoing conflict.
Officials said the hardest-hit area was the Prymorskyi district, where high-rise and mid-rise residential buildings were damaged. Fires broke out in upper floors and rooftops, but emergency services managed to contain the blaze.
The regional military administration, led by Serhiy Lysak, confirmed that among the injured was a 17-year-old boy. Several victims were reported to be in serious condition, including two in intensive care.
The Odesa drone attack also damaged a kindergarten, shopping centre, hotel, and administrative buildings. In addition, dozens of vehicles were destroyed or heavily damaged in parking areas across the city.
Ukraine’s air force reported that Russia launched a large-scale aerial assault involving drones and at least one missile. While most of the incoming threats were intercepted, several still struck multiple locations.
Authorities continue to assess the full extent of the damage, warning that casualty figures may rise as rescue operations proceed. The attack adds to growing concerns over the safety of civilian areas in frontline cities.
