Saudi Iran Non-Aggression Pact

Saudi Iran Non-Aggression Pact Proposal in Middle East

The Saudi Iran non-aggression pact has reportedly been proposed by Saudi Arabia as part of efforts to reduce rising tensions in the Middle East. According to a British newspaper report, the initiative aims to create a framework for long-term regional stability involving Iran and neighbouring states.

The report suggests that Saudi Arabia has already discussed the idea of a Saudi Iran non-aggression pact with several allied countries. These consultations are said to focus on how the region can manage security challenges following heightened tensions involving Iran, Israel, and broader geopolitical actors.

Diplomatic sources cited in the report say Riyadh is considering a model similar to the 1970s Helsinki process in Europe. The framework is seen as a potential way to reduce hostilities and build confidence among regional powers under a structured agreement.

The idea behind the Saudi Iran non-aggression pact also reflects concerns among Gulf states that a post-conflict Iran could become more hardened and less predictable. There are also fears that reduced external military presence in the region may create a security vacuum.

According to the report, several European countries have shown support for the proposal. They are also encouraging other Gulf nations to back the initiative, viewing it as a possible diplomatic pathway to reduce long-term instability in the region.

However, diplomats caution that the success of the Saudi Iran non-aggression pact depends heavily on which countries agree to participate. The inclusion of key regional players remains a major challenge, particularly given ongoing rivalries and mistrust.

Analysts say that without broad participation, including difficult stakeholders, the proposed framework could face serious limitations. Still, the Saudi Iran non-aggression pact is being viewed as a significant diplomatic signal aimed at reducing regional escalation risks.
