New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani strongly condemned the deadly shooting at a mosque in California, warning that Islamophobia continues to pose a serious threat to Muslim communities across the United States.
According to international media reports, the shooting took place at an Islamic center in San Diego, where three people, including a security guard, were killed. Authorities said the suspected teenage attackers allegedly died by suicide after carrying out the attack.
Police officials stated that the incident is being investigated as a hate crime. Investigators revealed that the suspect had taken three firearms from his mother’s home and left behind a written message expressing racist and extremist views.
Reacting to the incident, Zohran Mamdani said the rise of Islamophobia in America is deeply concerning not only for Muslims but for society as a whole. He stressed the need for communities to unite against hatred, discrimination, and violence.
The New York mayor also urged Americans to stand firmly against Islamophobia and reject politics based on fear and division. According to Mamdani, the strength of the United States lies in its religious and cultural diversity.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump also condemned the California mosque shooting, describing the incident as deeply disturbing. He expressed condolences to the victims’ families and called for a full investigation into the attack.
