Security forces killed 10 terrorists and arrested two female suicide bombers along with their facilitator during Balochistan intelligence-based operations, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Tuesday. The operations took place in Surab and Mastung districts over the past 48 hours.
According to the ISPR, multiple intelligence-based operations and area sanitisation missions targeted militants linked to what it described as India-sponsored Fitna al Hindustan and Fitna al Khawarij. The military said the operations aimed to eliminate terrorists and their facilitators operating in the province.
During an operation in Surab, security forces engaged terrorist hideouts and killed seven militants. In a separate intelligence-based operation in Mastung, troops killed three more terrorists while arresting two female suicide bombers and their alleged facilitator.
The ISPR said troops recovered weapons, ammunition, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from the militants. It added that sanitisation operations continue in the affected areas to ensure no remaining militants are able to regroup or launch attacks.
The military said the operations form part of the broader counterterrorism campaign under Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan. It reiterated that security forces and law enforcement agencies remain committed to eliminating terrorism across the country.
President Asif Ali Zardari praised the security forces for the successful operations. He said effective action against terrorist networks was essential for maintaining peace in Balochistan and stressed that the fight against terrorism supported by external elements would continue.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also commended the officers and personnel involved in the operations. He said no one would be allowed to undermine peace in Balochistan and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicating terrorism while supporting the armed forces in protecting national security.
