Pakistan has strongly condemned threats by Yemen’s Houthi movement against Saudi Arabia and commercial shipping in the Red Sea, declaring that Pakistan warns Houthis any threat to Pakistani-flagged vessels will be treated as a threat to the country’s national security.
In a statement on Wednesday, Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan described the threats against Saudi Arabia and commercial maritime traffic as unacceptable. He said Pakistan reserved the right to take every necessary and lawful measure to protect its maritime interests.
The spokesperson stressed that any threat directed at Pakistani-flagged ships would be considered a direct threat to Pakistan’s national security. He added that the government remained committed to safeguarding the country’s maritime trade and strategic interests.
Pakistan also reaffirmed its unwavering support for Saudi Arabia’s security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The Foreign Office said Islamabad stood by Riyadh and supported efforts aimed at preserving peace and stability in the region.

The statement further emphasized the importance of ensuring safe navigation in the Red Sea, a key international shipping route. It called for uninterrupted global trade and urged all parties to exercise restraint and respect international law.

US President Donald Trump also reacted to the Houthi announcement, warning that if the group attempted to enforce a blockade in the Red Sea, the United States would respond and handle the situation accordingly.
