FBR Income Tax Returns 2026

FBR Starts Receiving Income Tax Returns for Tax Year 2026

Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has officially started accepting annual Income Tax Returns for Tax Year 2026 from July 27, 2026. The announcement was made by FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial, marking the beginning of the annual tax filing process across Pakistan.

According to the FBR, taxpayers are required to file returns covering income earned between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026. Eligible individuals, salaried employees, businesses, and companies are encouraged to submit their returns through the prescribed procedure before the deadline.

The last date for filing Income Tax Returns for Tax Year 2026 is September 30, 2026. Taxpayers are advised to complete the filing process well in advance to avoid last-minute technical issues, penalties, or other legal consequences associated with late submissions.

Under the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001 (as amended), the FBR is authorised to examine and verify the details provided in submitted tax returns. The authority may conduct audits or detailed reviews to ensure compliance with tax laws and detect any discrepancies or inaccurate declarations.

Tax experts recommend that taxpayers maintain accurate financial records and provide complete and correct information while filing their returns. Timely submission not only helps taxpayers remain compliant with tax regulations but also supports their status as active taxpayers under Pakistan’s tax system.

The FBR has urged all eligible taxpayers to fulfil their tax obligations within the stipulated timeframe. Filing accurate returns contributes to greater transparency, strengthens the national tax system, and supports revenue collection for economic development.

With the filing season now underway, the FBR expects a higher level of compliance compared to previous years. Officials hope that more taxpayers will submit their Income Tax Returns before the September 30 deadline, helping broaden Pakistan’s tax base and improve overall tax collection.
