The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a fresh weather forecast predicting rainfall across several districts of Sindh over today and tomorrow as monsoon activity strengthens across southern and central parts of the country.
According to the PMD, a low-pressure system currently exists over southwest Rajasthan and adjoining areas. However, the department expects the system to weaken by tomorrow. Despite this, strong monsoon winds are continuing to move into southern and central Pakistan, creating favourable conditions for widespread rainfall in different parts of Sindh.
The forecast states that heavy rainfall is expected in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas and surrounding areas. The department noted that intense downpours in some locations could lead to water accumulation in low-lying areas, prompting residents to remain aware of changing weather conditions.
Meanwhile, thunderstorms accompanied by rain are likely in Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar and Hyderabad. Similar weather conditions have also been forecast for Sanghar, Shaheed Benazirabad, Kashmore and Jacobabad. In addition, Shikarpur, Sukkur, Khairpur and Naushahro Feroze are expected to receive rainfall during the forecast period.
For Karachi, the PMD said the city is likely to experience cloudy and humid weather over the next three days. Light rain or drizzle may occur today, while intermittent drizzle is expected to continue during the coming days.
The department also forecast occasional strong winds in Karachi on Monday and Tuesday. Rain accompanied by thunderstorms is possible in the city’s suburban areas during this period.
The PMD has advised residents to stay updated with official weather advisories and exercise caution, particularly in low-lying areas that may be vulnerable to temporary waterlogging after heavy rainfall. Authorities have also encouraged the public to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rain and thunderstorms to minimise potential risks and ensure public safety throughout the forecast period.
