Mohammad Yousuf slams Kingsmen team strategy

Former Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousuf has expressed strong criticism of Hyderabad Kingsmen’s team selection following their heavy defeat against three-time champions Lahore Qalandars in the opening match of PSL 11. Yousuf suggested that the franchise’s think tank lacked a clear strategy for building a competitive squad.

Yousuf highlighted the need for Saim Ayub to take responsibility within the team and said Marnus Labuschagne would struggle to secure a place in a strong lineup. He also praised Sharjeel Khan’s batting, stating that if Sharjeel regains form, he could turn a match in Hyderabad’s favour.

On Lahore Qalandars, Yousuf noted that the team is well-balanced and commended Fakhar Zaman for consistently prioritising team success over personal milestones. He also praised Sikandar Raza as an exceptional all-rounder and highlighted the strength of Lahore’s bowling attack.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan off-spinner Taufeeq Ahmed pointed out that only a few domestic players are capable of consistently supporting their teams in T20 cricket and lauded Fakhar’s performance in line with T20 requirements.

Taufeeq also raised concerns about Hyderabad’s team kit, mentioning that despite high costs, the uniform colours appeared to be fading—a detail that should have been addressed before the match.
