LAHORE: Captain (retd) Safdar, husband of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has spoken about his personal relationship with his wife, saying that she usually takes the initiative to resolve matters when the couple has a disagreement.
Captain Safdar recently appeared in an interview with a YouTube channel, where he discussed a range of political and personal topics. During the conversation, he also shared some details about his family life and relationship with Maryam Nawaz.
Responding to a question about his relationship with his wife, Captain Safdar said he does not try to exercise authority over Maryam Nawaz. He described their relationship as being based on respect, dignity and mutual regard.
Captain Safdar said he and Maryam Nawaz have been married for 35 years and have three children, as well as grandchildren. He also explained why he did not become part of the Punjab cabinet, saying that when the chief minister arrives, everyone is expected to stand.
Discussing disagreements at home, Captain Safdar said that arguments between him and Maryam Nawaz are generally minor. He added that when such situations occur, Maryam Nawaz is usually the one who takes the first step toward resolving the disagreement.
He also shared a light-hearted example from their household, saying that when sweets arrive at home, Maryam Nawaz sometimes tells others to put them away because she believes Safdar might eat them all and subsequently feel unwell.
