Preparations for the OIC Women’s Conference entered their final phase on Wednesday as Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar chaired the sixth meeting of the High-Level Committee overseeing arrangements for the event. Pakistan is scheduled to host the 9th Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ministerial Conference on Women on July 12 and 13.

During the meeting, the committee reviewed the draft programme, conference agenda, protocol arrangements, security plans, logistics, media strategy, inter-ministerial coordination, and other organisational matters. Officials assessed the readiness of various institutions involved in hosting the international gathering.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the committee also discussed measures to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the OIC Women’s Conference. The event is expected to bring together representatives from the OIC’s 57 member states to strengthen cooperation on women’s empowerment, inclusion, and sustainable development.

Ishaq Dar appreciated the progress made by the Ministry of Human Rights in coordinating preparations for the conference. He directed all relevant ministries and departments to maintain close coordination and complete the remaining arrangements within the prescribed timeline.

The conference is expected to provide a platform for member states to exchange views on policies aimed at improving women’s participation in economic, social, and public life. Discussions are also expected to focus on cooperation in areas related to education, development, and inclusive growth.

The high-level meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Azam Nazeer Tarar, Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunications Shaza Fatima, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch, Secretary Human Rights Abdul Khaliq Shaikh, and other senior government officials.

The upcoming OIC Women’s Conference is one of Pakistan’s major international engagements this year. The government says comprehensive security, logistical, and administrative measures are being finalized to ensure the successful hosting of delegates from across the Islamic world.
