A grand public gathering was organized in Iran just one week before the national football team’s departure for the FIFA World Cup 2026. Thousands of supporters assembled at Tehran’s famous Revolution Square to express solidarity with the team and pray for its success in the global tournament.
According to international media reports, football fans from different parts of the country participated in the event, waving Iranian flags and chanting slogans in support of the national side. The atmosphere remained highly emotional as supporters wished the players success on the international stage.
The Iranian football squad also met President Masoud Pezeshkian before leaving for the tournament. During the meeting, the players presented the president with a symbolic number 12 jersey, representing the nation’s support for the team.
Addressing the players, President Pezeshkian urged the squad to use all their energy and determination for the honor of Iran. He stated that the entire Iranian nation is praying for the team and hopes the players return home with dignity and pride.
The president further expressed confidence that the football team would emerge as a symbol of national unity and pride. He praised the players for their hard work and dedication, saying the nation stands proudly behind its athletes.
Meanwhile, the head of Iran’s Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also voiced support for the national team. He emphasized that the entire nation would stand beside the players throughout their World Cup journey.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 is scheduled to take place next month across United States, Canada, and Mexico. Iran will play its opening match against New Zealand on June 15 in Los Angeles.
