The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet has approved an increase in the size of the Ehsaas Naujawan Programme from Rs3 billion to Rs5 billion, according to officials.
The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in Peshawar. The meeting approved several measures covering youth development, education, healthcare and public-private partnerships.
Officials said the cabinet approved an additional Rs2 billion for the Ehsaas Naujawan Programme, raising its total size to Rs5 billion. The programme is aimed at providing greater opportunities and support to young people in the province.
The cabinet also approved grant-in-aid requests for Langlands School and College in Chitral and model schools in the merged districts. The measures are intended to support educational institutions in different parts of the province.
To reduce the number of out-of-school children, the cabinet approved an interdepartmental memorandum of understanding. The initiative will involve coordination between relevant departments to improve access to education.
The cabinet further approved free textbooks for all students from grades six to eight across the province from the 2027-28 financial year. Financial assistance for the treatment of 21 patients was also approved.
Officials said the cabinet approved the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public-Private Partnership Authority Bill 2026. It also approved house-job stipend slots in government hospitals, an increase in stipends for house-job doctors and additional grants.
