KARACHI: A 50-year-old man from Nawabshah has been diagnosed with monkeypox, according to hospital authorities. The patient was brought to Jinnah Hospital in Karachi after developing symptoms associated with the viral infection.
Hospital officials said the patient was initially taken to Jinnah Hospital for medical assessment. Following an evaluation of his symptoms, he was subsequently referred to the Sindh Infectious Diseases Hospital for further treatment and monitoring.
According to hospital authorities, the patient also has an existing kidney-related condition. He has been placed in quarantine as a precautionary measure and is currently receiving medical care under observation.
Officials said the patient’s condition is stable and showing improvement. Medical staff are continuing to monitor his health while he remains under isolation.
Health department sources said 44 monkeypox cases have been confirmed in Sindh so far this year. Of these, 15 cases have reportedly been identified among residents of Karachi.
The latest case has prompted continued monitoring by health authorities as they track the spread of monkeypox in the province. Officials are focusing on the timely identification of suspected cases and appropriate medical care for patients.
