Labour Day Pakistan was marked with strong messages from national leaders, as President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the country’s workforce. Both leaders highlighted the critical role workers play in shaping the nation’s economic future.
President Zardari described workers as the “foundation of the economy,” emphasizing that Labour Day Pakistan is a reminder of the importance of empowering the labour force. He said that national progress depends on protecting and uplifting workers across all sectors.
In his message, the president reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to international labour standards. He stressed the importance of fair wages, social protection, and eliminating child and forced labour to ensure a just working environment.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a separate statement, praised workers for their resilience and dedication. He said that from early morning to late night, workers contribute tirelessly to the nation’s growth and stability.
He further assured that the government is focused on creating better job opportunities and strengthening labour protections. According to the prime minister, Labour Day Pakistan reflects a commitment to safeguarding the dignity of every worker.
As Labour Day Pakistan is observed nationwide, leaders emphasized that a strong workforce is essential for long-term development. They called for continued efforts to ensure workers receive recognition, protection, and opportunities for growth.
