RAWALPINDI: Authorities have ordered the closure of hotels around Faizabad in Rawalpindi ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s planned Islamabad march.
According to police sources, all hotels located around the Faizabad bus terminal have been ordered to close. Restaurant owners and shopkeepers in the area have also been directed to shut their businesses by this evening.
Police sources further said that passenger rest areas and transport terminals around Faizabad have also been instructed to remain closed until tonight. The measures are part of security arrangements being made ahead of the expected political activity.
The developments come as PTI has announced an Islamabad march for September 27. The party has been mobilizing its supporters for the planned demonstration and has called for participation in the protest.
Meanwhile, federal ministers have stated that PTI workers will not be allowed to enter Islamabad. Authorities have been preparing security measures in Rawalpindi and Islamabad in anticipation of the planned march.
The local administration is also taking steps to control traffic and movement along key routes connecting Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Containers are being placed at several important roads as part of preparations to restrict access if required.
