Selena Gomez lawsuit

Selena Gomez, Mother and Former Partner Sued Over Investment Fraud Claims

Pop star Selena Gomez, her mother Mandy Teefey and former business partner Daniella Pierson are facing a Selena Gomez lawsuit over allegations that investors were misled about the financial condition and operations of their mental health startup, Wondermind.

According to a complaint filed in a Delaware court, two groups of investors claim they invested nearly $1.2 million in the company after receiving representations about its business prospects and Gomez’s involvement. The plaintiffs accuse the three of securities fraud, common law fraud and breach of contract, among other claims.

Wondermind was founded in 2021 as a mental health startup offering resources designed to help people improve their mental fitness. Gomez is listed as a co-founder, while Teefey served as chief executive. Pierson left the company in 2023 following reported disagreements with Teefey.

The investors allege they were led to believe Wondermind had partnerships with major companies, advertising agreements, celebrity magazine features and plans for a major app. According to the complaint, however, the alleged partnerships did not materialise and the app was never developed.

The lawsuit claims investors were not properly informed about the company’s financial difficulties and internal problems. Plaintiffs cited a report published by The Cut that described internal disputes, alleged mismanagement and concerns about Gomez’s involvement with the company.

The investors say they contacted Teefey in November seeking the return of their money. They allege that although she initially indicated she would respond, no substantive response followed. In April, they say Teefey claimed she believed the investment had already been returned and referred further questions to Gomez’s legal team.

The Selena Gomez lawsuit also alleges that Teefey later said Wondermind had established an escrow account to facilitate repayment. The investors claim they could not obtain details about the account and allege that no such account existed. They are seeking repayment of their original investment, damages and legal fees. The allegations remain claims in a civil lawsuit and have not been established in court.
