Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has once again urged opposition parties to join hands for a Charter of Democracy and a Charter of Economy, stressing the need for political unity to address Pakistan’s key challenges. Speaking during a National Assembly session, he called for constructive dialogue and cooperation in the national interest.
During his address, the prime minister paid tribute to members of the security forces who recently lost their lives in the line of duty. He noted that 22 soldiers embraced martyrdom in recent operations, describing their sacrifices as a symbol of commitment to protecting the country and its citizens from security threats.
Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the nation must honor the sacrifices of fallen soldiers and support their families. He said the children of martyrs deserve recognition and respect for the immense sacrifices made by their parents in service to the country.
Renewing his appeal to the opposition, the prime minister said political parties may have different ideologies, visions, and policy approaches, but the country’s stability and progress should remain a shared priority. He invited all political stakeholders to sit together and work toward long-term democratic and economic agreements.
The prime minister also highlighted the importance of balanced development across all provinces. He stated that ensuring equal opportunities and development for every region of Pakistan is a key responsibility of the federal government and an essential component of national cohesion.
Referring to the Reko Diq project, Shehbaz Sharif said the rights and shares allocated to the people of Balochistan are clearly defined and transparent. He added that the project serves as an example of how provincial interests can be protected while pursuing large-scale economic development initiatives.
The premier further outlined ongoing efforts to support Balochistan’s development, including solar energy programs for farmers, increased financial allocations under previous NFC Award arrangements, and the construction of the Gwadar-Chaman highway. According to him, approximately Rs300 billion is being invested in the road project, which is expected to improve connectivity, facilitate trade, and contribute to regional economic growth.
