Supreme Court Orders Imran Khan’s Transfer to Private Hospital

The Imran Khan hospital transfer has been ordered by Pakistan’s Supreme Court, which directed authorities to move the PTI founder to Shifa International Hospital. The court also ordered a medical board to oversee his treatment.

The bench directed authorities to keep Imran Khan at the private hospital until the next hearing. It also ordered that he be moved under tight security while maintaining law and order outside the hospital.

Justice Shahid Waheed questioned why authorities had not submitted Imran Khan’s complete medical record. He observed that the material presented before the court contained only a summary of his medical reports.

The court directed officials to submit the complete medical record before the next hearing. Justice Waheed also raised concerns about reports indicating abnormalities in Khan’s pulse and heart condition.

Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan asked whether the angiography mentioned in medical reports could be performed in jail. The Islamabad advocate general replied that the procedure could be conducted at an outside hospital.

The court also addressed family meetings and medical access. It ordered that Imran Khan’s family be allowed to meet him once a week and sought records of meetings with his sisters and communications with his children.

The Imran Khan hospital transfer will remain in effect until the next hearing, scheduled for September 16. The court said Dr Faisal Sultan and Dr Uzma Khan would accompany him, while PTI would bear the private hospital’s expenses. The court also directed that treatment should not become a subject of political campaigning.
