NEW YORK: US President Donald Trump referred to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as a “fantastic prime minister” during his address to the United Nations General Assembly.
While discussing Pakistan during his speech, Trump used the complimentary description for Shehbaz Sharif, adding another notable moment to the history of interactions between the US president and Pakistan’s prime minister.
Trump also revisited the subject of the Pakistan-India conflict, claiming that he had helped bring the fighting to an end following a request from the Pakistani prime minister.
The US president has previously spoken positively about Pakistan’s leadership and highlighted his interactions with senior Pakistani officials. His latest remarks about Shehbaz Sharif came during his address at the UN General Assembly in New York.
Trump has also previously referred to Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, in favorable terms, including calling him his “favorite field marshal.”
