Ukraine rocket attack on Bryansk reportedly killed two civilians in Russia’s border region on Thursday, according to Russian officials. The strike targeted the Suzemka district in Bryansk region, where authorities said a teenage girl and her grandmother lost their lives while another woman was injured.
Acting Bryansk Governor Yegor Kovalchuk said the attack was carried out using a Grad multiple rocket launcher. He stated that the rockets hit Suzemka village, the administrative center of the district located near the Ukrainian border.
Russian authorities said the victims included a 15-year-old girl and her grandmother. A third woman sustained injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, where she received medical treatment. Officials did not immediately provide further details about her condition.
The Ukraine rocket attack on Bryansk also caused significant property damage. Preliminary reports indicated that one residential house was completely destroyed, while four other homes suffered damage. Several outbuildings, a car, and a tractor were also affected by the strike.
Following the incident, Bryansk Regional Prosecutor Vladimir Mosin instructed local prosecutors to remain in close contact with emergency services and local authorities. He directed officials to ensure all necessary assistance was provided to affected residents.
The prosecutor’s office also established a dedicated hotline to receive requests from victims and provide legal assistance. Authorities said they would continue monitoring the situation and coordinate relief efforts for those impacted by the attack.
The Ukraine rocket attack on Bryansk comes as cross-border hostilities between Russia and Ukraine continue. Fighting along the frontier has resulted in repeated attacks on civilian areas, with both sides accusing each other of escalating the conflict.
