Security forces carried out a timely operation near Kalat on the N25 national highway, killing five terrorists and rescuing 23 hostages from a suspected terrorist hideout.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces foiled an attempt by terrorists to disrupt public movement along the N25. The operation was launched after terrorists allegedly attempted to interfere with traffic and passenger movement on the important highway.
The military’s media wing said six trucks, three buses and two cars were recovered during the operation. Security personnel also seized a significant quantity of weapons, ammunition and explosive material from the location.
According to officials, the terrorists had established a makeshift checkpoint along the route. The checkpoint was allegedly being used to facilitate activities including abductions, extortion and vehicle snatching.
Meanwhile, a separate incident was reported in Kharan, where terrorists allegedly targeted a passenger vehicle with an improvised explosive device on Lajay Road. The incident resulted in injuries to 10 workers travelling in the vehicle.
Security sources said security personnel reached the location shortly after the blast and shifted the injured workers to a hospital for medical treatment. Further details regarding the nature and circumstances of the attack were not immediately provided.
