ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Information has rejected reports suggesting that roads have been closed across the federal capital, saying no road has been officially shut for public movement.
In a statement, the ministry said that reports about road closures in Islamabad were misleading. According to the ministry, containers have been positioned at certain locations as a precautionary measure aimed at protecting the lives and property of citizens.
The Information Ministry said the placement of containers was also carried out in compliance with directions issued by the Islamabad High Court. The measure, it added, was intended to maintain security while avoiding unnecessary disruption to routine activities in the capital.
According to the ministry, additional security arrangements have been made to protect sensitive installations and key public infrastructure. The authorities described these measures as precautionary steps designed to address potential security concerns.
The statement comes amid reports and discussions on social media regarding movement and road access in Islamabad. The ministry maintained that the presence of containers should not automatically be interpreted as a complete closure of roads in the federal capital.
The Ministry of Information also criticised what it described as biased reporting, saying that such coverage could mislead the public and create a negative impression. It urged media outlets and the public to distinguish between verified information and claims circulating without sufficient context.
