Eight Terrorists Killed in CTD, Police Operation in Bannu

A major counterterrorism breakthrough was achieved in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as Bannu CTD police operation terrorists killed eight militants during a joint operation conducted in the Bannu district on Saturday.

According to Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed, the operation was launched early in the morning based on credible intelligence about the presence of militants linked to Fitna al-Khawarij. The CTD and police jointly surrounded the area and engaged the terrorists in a fierce exchange of fire.

The Bannu CTD police operation terrorists killed incident took place under the direct supervision of senior police officers, including the SP Rural Bannu and CTD officials. Advanced drone surveillance and modern technology were used to monitor terrorist movement during the operation.

Authorities confirmed that one police officer was martyred and another injured during the intense gunbattle. The injured official was immediately shifted to hospital for urgent medical treatment, while security forces continued clearing operations in the area.

Officials also recovered and safely defused an improvised explosive device (IED) near Azad Mandi on Miranshah Road, preventing a potential major attack in the region.

The Inspector General praised the bravery and professionalism of the police and CTD teams, stating that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police remain fully capable of countering terrorism and defending the public against militant threats.
